How to Create RSS feeds in Connected
RSS Feeds. (Ticker Zone)
RSS is just simple text files with basic updated information—news pieces, articles, that sort of thing.
- When creating your presentation for an RSS feed to be created you need to select Ticker Zone from the navigator tab.
- Then once the zone has been added and you have the correct size you need to select if the text that is displayed is either Animated, Static Text or scrolling text.

Animated - Text appears on screen from left to right (similar to a Teletype-style ticker).

Number of lines: Set the number of text lines in the zone.

Time to Display Each Line: Determine how long each line displays in the zone (in seconds).

Static Text: Lines of text appear without any animation.

Alignment: Specify whether the static text is left aligned, right aligned, or centred in the zone

Scrolling: Text scrolls across the screen (similar to a news or stock ticker).
2.3.1 Scroll Speed: Use the slider to set the scroll speed to 100%, 200%, 300%, or 400% of normal.
Note: Text can scroll either right-to-left or left-to-right: This scrolling direction is determined by the language of the first text item used in the zone.

Foreground text colour: Select a colour for text in the zone.

Background text colour: Select a colour for the text background in the zone.

Background bitmap: Check the box to display an image as the text background. You will be prompted to select an image from your BSN Content Cloud library or your local machine (depending on the Storage Selector setting).

Stretch to Fit: Check this box if you want to stretch the image to fill the zone.
- Double click on the zone or select the content tab.

From the Widget tab select Live Feed, click, and drag into the content space.
- Click on the icon and State Properties will be displayed on the rights side.
- In the NAME enter the RSS feed that you are selecting
6.1 To add a feed, go to a RSS feed website, i.e. type in search bar / bbc live rss feed or Sky for example.
6.1 Then go to your select news feed. Example Top Stories then once on the page it will show all feeds. Copy the URL (Address feed) Head back to BrightSign Connected. And paste this into the URL section of the Source tab.
- In the Feed connection select how long you would like the refresh to take place. For testing purposes select 30 seconds.
Now you can publish your RSS Feed.
