Type the IP address into the web browser, you will be presented with the web UI of the Serv Pro. (Some encoders require login but this isn’t the case with the Serv Pro)

You can go about this wirelessly, however for in house testing we will 100 percent of the time be using this method. The wireless way would be more for on set productions etc, for this kind of guide, please refer to the manufacturer website here: https://support.teradek.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002045714
For additional basic setup information, why not also watch this manufacturer guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW15zMYakE4
You are now in the Web UI and are now able to start navigating the menu. For the purpose of this guide, we will be looking at firmware upgrades on the next page.
Upgrading the Serv Pro Firmware.
A very common fault with the Serv Pro in particular, is that the unit can get stuck on bootup with, Initializing Encoder. You can still navigate the menu though which means you are still able to tweak firmware or field recovery.
As discussed in the previous section, you are now in the Web UI and are now able to access settings and upgrades. Please follow these instructions:
On the Web UI you will see top left the screen that will show your video once a video source is connected.
On the centre are some options to choose from. You need to click on firmware upgrade.
You will then be navigated to your computer browser from where you choose the firmware file.

Before proceeding however, please download the firmware here: https://teradek.com/pages/downloads#serv-pro

Once downloaded and you have allocated the file firmware file to somewhere that you can easily find, please select the bin file from your pc browser.
Click update and the procedure will begin. This can take a few minutes to complete, so please do not turn the unit off.
Once completed, restart your Serv Pro and enjoy your Serv Pro.
An alternative, but easier way to perform the firmware upgrade is to navigate the user interface of the Serv Pro. (This is the way that the user would do it but using the web UI is better for downgrading firmware in the event of a firmware bug to see if this helps)
The basic firmware procedure is pretty easy. Please follow the following instructions:
With the menu button, press and navigate to “System setup” and press the menu button.

- Then, with the menu button scroll to “Check Firmware Update” and click.

- You will then be presented with “checking for new firmware”

The next firmware would then show up, you would click this and proceed to upgrade.
