ARC Genesis Microphone Troubleshooting
ARC Genesis Microphone Troubleshooting
If you are unable to see the microphone in ARC Genesis but can see the microphone as an audio device, you will need to check your laptops drivers for Intel Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio and disable this driver temporarily.
For Windows 10/11, these drivers can be found under Device Manager > System Devices
Look for:
Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED
Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller
Once you disable these drivers, please also uninstall the ARC Microphone under Audio Inputs and Outputs and disconnected the microphone. From here, restart your laptop and reconnect the microphone to your laptop, ARC Genesis should now see the microphone.
Note that the onboard sound will stop working until you re-enable those devices.
1. It's possible that Windows has not loaded the correct USB driver for the microphone. The driver will need to be removed and the microphone will need to be plugged in again. You'll know when the correct USB driver has been loaded as Windows will give you a pop-up indicating the ARC Microphone is preparing for setup, and another notification telling you the microphone has completed its install.
WINDOWS > CONTROL PANEL > DEVICE MANAGER > UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS.
WINDOWS > CONTROL PANEL > DEVICE MANAGER > SOUND /VIDEO /GAME CONTROLLERS.
Make sure the mic shows up in one of these two spots to ensure the computer is seeing the new device and attempting to install the most current driver. If you are having issues with the mic, then remove the ARC mic from here, and watch to see if Windows reinstalls the mic and the driver, when you plug the mic back in.
2. If you are using a Dell, Acer, Lenovo or HP laptop running Windows 10 20H1 with Intel Audio and you are unable to see the microphone in ARC Genesis but can see the microphone as an audio device you will need to check your laptop’s drivers for Intel Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio and disable this driver temporarily.
For most systems, these drivers can be found under Device Manager > System Devices
Look for:
Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED
Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller
Once you disable these drivers, please also uninstall the ARC Microphone under “Audio Inputs and Outputs” and disconnected the microphone. From here, restart your laptop and reconnect the microphone to your laptop, ARC Genesis should now see the microphone.
